About this rug

There are no guls on this Khal Mohammadi runner; it carries an all-over repeat instead: rows of small arches edged in ivory, like tiny crowns, alternate with dark navy flower sprays, and fine ivory zigzags join them into a loose lattice across the burgundy field. Narrow borders of minute motifs keep the frame quiet. At the end, a striped band in navy, red and ivory sits above a long, greyish fringe.

Afghan-made and hand-knotted in natural wool, it has a density of about 150 knots per square inch. Measuring 292 × 86 cm, it belongs in a corridor 1.1 to 1.3 m wide and suits a long entrance as well. Gul-pattern runners in similar reds sit among our Afghan Akche wool rugs.
