About this rug

Thirty-two guls in four columns of eight crowd the soft, raspberry-red field of this rug. Each little octagon is outlined in navy and quartered in cream around a red dot, and golden four-pointed crosses with dark hooked arms sit in the spaces between. Olive-green bands of tiny red and cream rosettes run on either side of a powder-blue border of diamonds, and a narrow raspberry edge and white fringes complete the frame.

The raspberry pile and its guls were hand-knotted in Afghanistan, with 80 knots to the square inch. Its 180 × 114 cm size fits a room space of roughly 2.4 × 1.75 m, a bedside or the area in front of a fireplace, and it belongs to our Akche rug collection.
