About this rug

Most of this runner is plain deep magenta, an open field with no pattern at all. The design lives at the edges: ivory and olive-green scrolling leaves run down both long sides, drawn straight onto the magenta rather than set in a separate border band. Across the ends the scrolls widen into a deeper band with olive palmettes, and a white fringe shows at one end.

Made in Kashan, Iran, the magenta field and its ivory and olive edging are knotted by hand in 100% wool. At 82 cm wide, this 3.14 m runner fits a hall 1 to 1.2 m wide, with 9–19 cm of bare floor along each side, or a passage beside a kitchen counter.
