Description
Description:
This is a 100% pure silk hand-knotted rug from Qum, Iran, woven with exceptional fineness and artistic detail. The intricate Floral composition and rich colour work reflect the high level of craftsmanship Qum silk rugs are known for. Due to its fine silk structure and small size, this piece is intended primarily for wall display as a textile artwork.
The rug carries a woven inscription that includes the year 1292 (Solar Hijri), which corresponds to 1913–1914 in the Gregorian calendar. This indicates the actual age of the rug, making it approximately 113 years old as of 2026. The inscription also includes a maker’s signature, confirming its Iranian origin and authenticity.
With its age, pure silk construction, and pictorial design, this rug represents a rare and collectible example of early 20th-century Persian silk weaving. It is not merely decorative, but a historical textile reflecting over a century of preserved craftsmanship.
Qum silk rugs are renowned for their fine knotting, artistic storytelling, and use of pure silk throughout. This piece represents that tradition clearly, combining cultural depth, family history, and refined Persian artistry in a collectible textile artwork.
