About this rug

Crimson four-lobed stars with gold and ivory centres stand out on the forest-green field of this akche, alternating with 18 ivory guls in six rows of three. Each gul holds a hooked cross in rust and navy. A sawtooth of blue and gold triangles lines the field, the next band is a dark lattice on crimson, and an outer chain of golden S-scrolls loops round everything. Gold and green panels fill the two ends.

This 176 × 108 cm Afghan akche rug fits a bedside, the space under a desk chair or a small entrance hall. Its natural wool was knotted by Afghan hands.
