About this rug

Strong cobalt blue and leaf green frame this brick-red akche. Thirty-two cream guls sit in four columns of eight, each ringed in navy around a red centre, with cream crosses between. In the blue border band, sandy crosses fill hexagons separated by small red X shapes, and the green bands on either side are lined with dark red rosettes, while ivory fringes finish the short ends.

A reading corner with one armchair, or a nursery, suits its lively colours and 179 × 122 cm size. Hand-knotting in Afghanistan gave it a natural wool pile, and it is part of the akche wool rug range.
