About this rug

Small round guls, five to a row, cover the red centre of this Akche Bokhara. Dark brown outlines and ivory hooks quarter every gul, with dark cross-shaped motifs in the spaces between. Around the field, a broad frame of borders in deep wine red and near-black repeats small diamonds and hooked shapes, so the brighter red of the centre stands out against a darker surround.
