About this rug

Small vases and long-tailed birds hide among the flowers on the navy field of this Kashmar, arranged symmetrically around a rust-red medallion with a lavender-blue centre. Gold and lavender panels branch out from the middle toward the corners, so the field moves between warm and cool tones. The lavender-blue border holds large rust and gold palmettes, closed by a red outer stripe.

Its half-inch pile is natural wool, hand-knotted in Iran, and the rug spans 402 × 305 cm, so it needs a generous room, some 4.6 × 3.7 m, or an open-plan lounge where it can anchor the main seating. This vase-and-bird Kashmar is one of our handmade Persian rugs.
