About this rug

Six rows of three large guls run down the rust-coloured ground of this Afghan akche. Every gul is an eight-sided frame outlined in black, with dark green-black in its corner quarters and a criss-cross lattice at its heart, and slender branched figures like little ladders stand between them. The wide outer border sets small red diamonds in a black trellis, with a band of dark leafy swirls inside it. Thin white fringes trim the two ends.
