About this rug

Saffron-orange crosses, each with a red centre, alternate with pale oval guls in offset rows across the sky-blue field of this akche. The inner border is a saffron band of red curling hooks that seem to chase each other around the rug, and beyond it a green band carries a fine diagonal lattice before the red and blue outer edges.

Made in Afghanistan, it has a natural wool pile of 8 mm or so and a size of 202 × 151 cm: right for an entrance hall, or for a lounge with a two-seater sofa, in a space of about 2.6 × 2.1 m. More blue akche rugs are in the range.
