The Bakhtiari carpets are woven by the nomadic tribes called the Bakhtiari of the rugged Zagros Mountains. They were woven in extremely durable wool and in luminous colours to be used by the tribes which were procured after having great knowledge of dyeing and using natural dyes.

About this rug

The brick-red field is crowded with large stylised flowers, tulips and curling leaves in navy, rose pink, ivory and sky blue. At its centre, a scalloped ivory medallion holds a dark star-shaped inner medallion of red and pink flowers, with a small blue and ivory rosette at its heart and navy-and-pink pendants above and below. The corners are deep midnight navy.

Diagonal rows of small rose-pink buds run around the dark main border, between ivory stripes, and the whole design was hand-knotted in Iran using 100% natural wool. In a 3.8 × 2.7 m living room, its 320 × 210 cm leaves an even strip of floor on all sides. This floral Bakhtiar is one of our handmade Persian rugs.
