About this rug

On a wine-red field packed with small blossoms, a navy lobed medallion frames an ivory lozenge with a sky-blue cross at its centre. Navy pendants carrying ivory and green palmettes extend it towards both ends, and the corners pair navy with a cream inner section. Rose pink, sky blue, ivory and olive pick out the flowers across the field.

The wide navy main border links rose-pink and ivory palmettes with fine ivory vines, inside light-blue stripes and a red outer edge, and the pile is 100% natural wool, hand-knotted in Iran. Laid crosswise under a king bed (183 cm wide), the 328 × 205 cm rug reaches about 70 cm past the mattress on either side. The red-ground design is part of our Kashan rugs.
