About this rug

Nearly half the width of this rug belongs to its border. Working inwards from the edge, bands of curled dark leaves alternate with chains of red diamonds, and the long sides carry an extra pair of diamond bands. In the middle, the red field holds small oval guls in five columns, brown-black with ivory detail, with dark star motifs standing in the gaps, and its fringe is ivory.

The rug comes from Afghanistan and is hand-knotted throughout in natural wool. Set crosswise under the lower two-thirds of a king bed, the rug extends about 55 cm beyond the mattress on each side. Explore our Bokhara rugs for other deep-bordered pieces.
