About this rug

A tight repeat of small motifs makes up the field of this Bijar: a close herati lattice of red and coral flowers and leaves over navy, which reads as deep red from across the room. An ivory lozenge medallion, worked in the same fine pattern, frames a dark centre, and four matching ivory corner pieces echo it. The red main border carries palmettes and rosettes in navy and ivory, between ivory guard bands of small repeating flowers.
