About this rug

Sixteen ivory guls, quartered in gold, grey-blue and dark red, stand in two columns on the cherry-red ground of this compact Bokhara, and pale pink cross-shaped stars are spaced along the line between them. In the main border, ivory octagonal rosettes with dark centres alternate with smaller gold ones, and a grey-blue lattice band crosses each end before the white fringe.

Pakistan is where its cherry-red natural wool was hand-knotted, to a pile height of around 8 mm. Measuring 157 × 95 cm, it can lie at the end of a double bed, in an entrance hall near 2.2 × 1.6 m in size, or before a fireplace. Deeper reds and other colours are among our Bokhara-pattern rugs.
