About this rug

Set on a forest green ground, small octagons in royal blue, red and ivory line up in four columns, with pale cross-shaped motifs touched with gold between them. A cream band dotted with tiny red diamonds frames the field. Further out, red stripes carry ivory crosses and a royal blue band is crossed by a diagonal lattice of gold and green, so the edge is busier and brighter than the calm centre.

Measuring 194 × 149 cm, with a natural wool pile near 8 mm made in Afghanistan, it works at the foot of a bed, under a small coffee table or in a study about 2.5 × 2.1 m. Other green and blue pieces are in the akche woollen rug range.
