About this rug

Two neat columns of small navy guls run the length of this bright red Bokhara, and dark crosses step down the centre line between them. The frame is deep navy, almost aubergine, with red rosettes, a zigzag band and, at each end, slanting stripes picked out with ivory comb shapes just before the white fringe.

Navy and red wool, all natural, was hand-knotted in Afghanistan for this piece at 80 knots per square inch, leaving a pile near 8 mm. Its 195 × 105 cm size sits easily alongside a bed, in an entrance hall or in a small study about 2.6 × 1.7 m. For larger sizes in the same colours, see our Bokhara collection.
