About this rug

Straw-gold outlines make each rust-red octagon on this denim blue field stand out sharply, and matching gold crosses fill the gaps between the four columns, so the palette is warm and cool at once. In the frame, a cream stripe of small red diamonds leads to a blue band with a sage green lattice and gold crosses, then red bands with ivory crosses at the outer edge.

At 193 × 150 cm it will cover the floor of a small room, about 2.5 × 2.1 m, or sit beside a double bed. Denim blue and rust are both natural wool here, cut to a pile near 8 mm, in a rug from Afghanistan. More rugs in blue are among our Afghan akche designs.
