About this rug

This pictorial prayer rug is coloured in soft grey-blue and rust red. At the top, a gold dome ribbed in red rises between two red-capped minarets and palm trees, over an ivory band of small arched windows and a red arcade. Below a striped step in red, gold and grey, a grey-blue mihrab with a lobed arch stands on navy-striped columns, with a peach lamp hanging on a dark chain and a gold motif near its base. The rust-red border carries an ivory leafy scroll with grey rosettes.

From the grey-blue ground to the peach lamp, natural vegetable dyes colour its 100% hand-spun wool, all of it knotted by hand in Afghanistan. It serves as a 138 × 88 cm prayer mat, or as a small rug beside a bed. More prayer rugs and geometric pieces fill our Chobi rug collection.
