A large Persian Kashan rug, traditionally hand-knotted in Iran using fine-quality kork wool, valued for its soft texture, dense pile and durability. It features a rich red field with an ornate navy central medallion, flowing floral vines and a deep navy floral border. Soft blue, cream, olive green, rust and gold accents add depth and detail to the design. Its generous size and classic colour palette make it ideal for a spacious living room, dining room or formal interior. Pre-owned and in excellent condition, with no noticeable wear.

About this rug

Curling vines spread ivory, sky-blue, gold and navy flowers across this large Kashan's red field. A stepped navy medallion, notched all round, takes the centre, holding a lobed ivory medallion and a sky-blue quatrefoil around a gold rosette, with navy palmette pendants above and below. Navy corners open into scalloped ivory panels, and the navy main border of rust, ivory and sky-blue palmettes is framed by ivory and pale blue stripes, with red at the very edge.

Kashan in Iran is where its kork-wool pile was knotted by hand. At 403 × 294 cm, close to 12 m², it suits an open-plan lounge of about 4.65 × 3.55 m, and a ten-seat table and its pulled-out chairs fit on it. More compact red Kashan pieces sit among our Kashan wool rugs.
