About this rug

On a rust-orange ground, twelve ivory guls stand in two columns of six, each quartered in golden yellow and dark brown. Between the rows are smaller cruciform motifs in ivory and brown. Around the field, a border of little oval guls on orange runs between dark brown guard stripes dotted with ivory, and short ivory fringes finish both ends.

Its natural wool pile, about 1/3 inch high, was tied by hand, 250 knots to every square inch, and in an entrance, a reading nook or next to a child's bed its 117 × 81 cm brings warm colour without crowding the floor. Red and beige versions of this weave are in our Bokhara rugs.
