About this rug

Steel blue frames a stepped red medallion here, its notched corners giving the centre a crisp outline. A small ivory and blue star sits at the heart, and rosettes, combs and tiny crosses are scattered around it in ivory and navy. Outside, a sand-coloured border holds a row of dark cross-shaped flowers, and the ends are fringed.

Afghan weavers hand-knotted its hand-spun wool, and sun-washing gave it the softer look. Its 153 × 99 cm suits a bedside, an entrance or the floor under a desk chair, in a clear area of roughly 2.1 × 1.6 m. It is part of our Kazak rug range.
