About this rug

Raspberry red and dark indigo make up this akche. Its eight large octagons, two across and four down, are each divided by a cross and filled with rows of small rings, a forked arrow-like sprig and a chequered centre, while branching tree-like figures stand on the centre line between them. A row of small comb-like teeth and a band of round rosettes frame the field; further out come a diamond lattice and a band of curling leaves.

Afghan-made in natural wool, with a pile rising to about 8 mm and white fringes, it suits the space before a fireplace, a bedside or a small lounge roughly 2.5 by 2.1 m. Look through the Afghan akche woollen rugs as well.
