About this rug

Four large octagonal guls, one above the other, fill the narrow red field of this akche, each a near-black octagon split into quarters around a small red cross. Little dark sprigs branch out on both sides of the guls. A wide stepped zigzag in dark brown-black runs round the border, sandwiched between narrower bands of dark diamond net and small red diamonds.

Its proportions, 195 cm long by 97 cm wide, make it a natural fit along one side of a double or queen bed, which is about 188 cm long, and it would also cover a passage roughly 1.2 to 1.35 m wide. Its natural wool was hand-tied in Afghanistan, and it is shown with our Afghan akche rugs.
