About this rug

Soft rose red and powder blue give this small akche a gentle, muted palette. Its field carries 32 cream guls with navy outlines and red centres, in eight rows of four, with sand-coloured crosses in between. Two khaki bands of tiny rosettes enclose the powder-blue main border, where sandy crosses fill hexagonal panels linked by red diagonals, and the raspberry ground returns as the outer edge.

Beside a bed or under a dressing-table stool, 178 × 119 cm is a handy size. Natural wool, tied by hand in Afghanistan, forms the pile of this small akche rug.
