About this rug

Muted rust red and dark chocolate give this mid-sized akche a soft, warm look. Eight large guls, two abreast and four deep, are each split into quarters around a central diamond, and branched motifs shaped a little like candelabra stand between them. A fine zigzag net in pink lines over dark brown forms the inner border; outside it, red lozenges with dark centres follow one another round the rug.

A desk and chair in a study fit on its 196 × 151 cm, or it can cover the floor at the end of a bed. Made in Afghanistan, it has a hand-knotted pile of 100% natural wool and is listed with our Afghan akche woollen rugs.
