About this rug

Black and pale gold give this Mamluk-design chobi a crisp, graphic look. At its centre, an eight-pointed star inside an octagon is built from rings of gold, ivory and soft grey-blue, with smaller roundels above and below. Grey-blue cartouches sit beside the roundels, and narrow black columns divide the field into a central panel and two side strips, all filled with tiny stars, rosettes and umbrella-shaped leaves. The black main border, scattered with gold leaves, is framed by pale-gold bands, and ivory fringes finish the ends.
