About this rug

Large diamonds, edged in dark saw-toothed bands, divide the red field of this Khal Mohammadi into a diagonal net, with half-diamonds cut off at the sides. In each one, a cross-shaped figure in black and dark green is outlined in ivory and tipped with pointed arms above and below. A thin white meander, like a running key, outlines the inner border; other bands carry small lozenges and crosses, and the outer edge is wrapped in tiny diagonal stripes of red, orange and white.
