About this rug

A deep blue dome crowns the building pictured at the top of this terracotta prayer rug, with a slim minaret on each side topped by a small crescent and a palm leaning in behind. Below its pale grey and cream façade, a cream arch on slender pillars frames a terracotta niche, where a sand-coloured lamp hangs above a spray of sage-green flowers. A terracotta border with a cream leaf meander and blue-green rosettes surrounds the scene.

It is hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool, using 100% natural vegetable dyes, and has a fringe at each end. Its 124 × 80 cm takes one worshipper and rolls up easily between prayers. See the Afghan chobi range for more.
