About this rug

Crimson, royal blue, lime green and golden yellow all appear at full strength in this akche, which makes it a lively choice for a room with plain walls and furniture. The field holds four columns of small blue octagons outlined in ivory, linked by vertical chains of yellow and navy crosses. The wide border alternates royal blue lozenges with green and yellow scrolls, framed by a yellow stripe and a magenta outer edge, and the fringe is white.

At 250 × 163 cm, it brightens a family room of about 3.1 × 2.2 m, or the lower part of a queen bed with colour showing on both sides; the wool is natural, the pile is listed at about a third of an inch, and the rug comes from Afghanistan.
