About this rug

Six large octagonal guls, one above the other, fill the centre of this narrow red runner. Each is quartered into black and red sections around a small square heart, and little branching motifs stand in the red spaces between them. Instead of one wide border, several slim bands of dark-outlined rosettes and small diamonds frame the field and keep the outline light, ending in a white fringe.

Tied knot by knot in natural wool in Afghanistan, it is 280 cm long and 75 cm wide: slim enough for a narrower hallway, some 0.95 to 1.15 m across, a stair landing or the space beside a single bed. Runners with smaller, paired guls are among our Akche wool rugs.
