About this rug

Deep wine red sets a darker mood on this Akche runner. Small dark guls, each crossed by a pale ivory plus sign, line up in two columns with tiny star motifs and ivory dots between them. The border is built from big hooked diamonds, every one dotted with ivory, set on a dark ground, and a narrow band of running hooks wraps the field just inside it, with white fringe at the ends.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan with a natural wool pile of roughly 8 mm, it is 80 cm wide and 290 cm long, so use it along a passage 1 to 1.2 m in width, or between a bed and a wall. Darker and brighter reds both appear among our Afghan Akche woollen rugs.
