About this rug

Fine spokes radiate from a small ivory star in the burgundy medallion of this rug, ringed by ivory petals, so the centre looks like a sunburst. Around it the ivory field is filled with flowering branches, tulips and leaves in burgundy, sage green, grey-blue and soft gold, while scalloped arches mark off the four corners. The wide burgundy border is a scroll of ivory and gold blossoms.

This Sutri design comes from Afghanistan, hand-knotted in hand-spun wool, with a white fringe at both ends. Pale in tone, it lightens a main bedroom or a living space about 3.4 m long and 2.4 m wide. Find more chobi rugs with pale and dark grounds.
