About this rug

A bright scarlet field makes the two columns of small dark guls on this Akche runner stand out sharply, each picked out with ivory. Cross-shaped motifs with white hooked tips sit between each pair. Down both sides, ivory-dotted diamonds alternate with dark hooked spacers on a black ground, and an outer band of tiny red crosses gives the edge a speckled look above the white fringe.

Hand-knotted from natural wool in Afghanistan to 290 × 81 cm, it can brighten a darker passage around 1 to 1.2 m across, and it will also lead the way in from a front door. For deeper wine-red versions, look through our Afghan Akche wool rugs.
