Description

This elegant Afghan Chobi Veg-Dye rug is hand-knotted from fine hand-spun wool and dyed using natural vegetable pigments. It features a refined Ziegler-inspired floral pattern, with intricate palmettes and vine motifs woven across a soft grey field, beautifully framed by a sky-blue border. The balanced mix of warm and cool tones—grey, beige, gold, and hints of red and turquoise—creates a timeless look that suits both classic and modern interiors.

The use of hand-spun wool gives the surface a rich texture and subtle sheen, while vegetable dyes ensure depth and natural variation in color that ages gracefully with time.

About this rug

Large gold and ivory palmettes, dark rosettes and spiky leaf forms are spread over the slate-grey ground of this chobi, linked by thin pale stems rather than gathered into a medallion. A pair of red-centred ivory rosettes marks the middle of the field, with smaller red, black and light blue accents around them. The main border is a soft sky blue, carrying ivory and gold palmettes between narrow beige guards.

Afghanistan is where it was knotted by hand, from hand-spun wool on a cotton foundation, and its colours come from vegetable dyes; the pile is medium-low, about 8 to 10 mm. In a lounge of around 3.5 × 2.6 m, the rug would leave a frame of bare floor on every side. Similar Ziegler-inspired pieces are among our fine chobi rugs.
