About this rug

A large footed urn in blue, ivory and red stands at the very centre of this Kashmar, inside a sand-coloured lozenge. Around it, four sky-blue lobed panels each hold a golden vase, and four ivory cartouches framed by leafy green branches show small architectural scenes. The navy field beyond is packed with more vases on stands and flowers in rust, gold and ivory. Sky-blue corners hold ivory cartouches, and the apricot main border continues the pictorial theme with urns and vignettes inside a navy outer band.

Knotted by hand in Kashmar, Iran, in 100% wool, it measures 350 × 256 cm, about 9 m². Vases, gardens and other pictures also feature in our Persian handmade rugs.
