About this rug

Powder blue is the accent here, rather than the red many people expect in a Kashan. It colours the heart of the medallion and the four shaped corners, while the rest of the medallion is worked in taupe and grey. Around it, the cream field is lobed at the edges and scattered with slender flower sprays in slate blue and grey, and the main border is a taupe band of navy scrolls and palmettes.

Every knot was tied by hand in Iran, using natural wool, and the rug's 377 × 277 cm suits an open-plan living area of around 4.4 × 3.4 m, where its pale palette sits easily beside grey or white walls. There are more cream and blue designs among our Kashan rugs.
