About this rug

A close-set herati pattern of small rosettes, diamond frames and curling leaves covers the whole navy field in rose red and ivory, so from across a room the ground reads as a blend of navy and deep red. At the centre sits an ivory lozenge medallion filled with the same herati motifs, enclosing a smaller navy-and-red lozenge, and ivory quarter-medallions fill all four corners. Palmettes and rosettes fill the crimson main border, inside narrow ivory stripes.

Knotted by hand in Iran from 100% natural wool, this is a big piece: it needs a room near 4.6 × 3.3 m, or can take a dining table up to 2.7 × 1.4 m with its chairs. This herati-field Bidjar belongs with our handmade Persian rugs.
