About this rug
Almost monochrome, this large Kashan keeps to ivory and shades of grey. Fine scrolling vines and small blossoms in slate and blue-grey cover the ivory field, gathering at the centre into an open rosette medallion rather than a solid one, and similar sprays shade the four corners slightly darker. The main border is grey-taupe with ivory and slate flowers, between several narrow guards, and white fringes finish both ends.
Tied by hand in Iran, the natural wool pile reaches about 13 mm, and at 4 × 2.9 m the rug leaves about 30 cm of floor on each side of a formal lounge or dining room around 4.6 × 3.5 m. More pale designs sit in our Kashan rug range.
