Description

Shiraz carpets are simple Persian carpets made of wool from the region. They are woven on a cotton or wool foundation with a woollen pile.
These nomadic rugs are almost always geometrical in style.
Patterns tend to be small medallions or geometric figures scattered across the rugs.
Strong reds and brown are the most typical colour of Shiraz rugs, they are extremely hard wearing and compliment wooden floors well. The average knot count of a Shiraz carpet is around 120 KPSI.
These rugs are simple but high quality rugs for an every day life.

About this rug

Charcoal grey, rather than black or navy, fills the two medallions on this scarlet Shiraz carpet. They are stepped at the edges, outlined in ivory and red and linked by a short ivory chain, with small ivory crosses at their tips and a red hooked emblem around an ivory lozenge inside each. Little stylised figures, rosettes and S-shapes in dark brown, gold and ivory are scattered over the corners. Three ivory borders frame the field: red arch shapes, then a chain of tiny dark and red squares, then a chequered edge, with a grey fringe at both ends.
