About this rug

Most of this hand-knotted rug is open rust red, its vegetable-dyed, hand-spun wool shifting in soft horizontal streaks, with no medallion in the middle. A garland of cream and pale-gold lilies with grey-green leaves runs around all four sides of this Afghan chobi, set slightly in from the edge so that a band of plain rust frames it.

The quiet centre leaves room for furniture: at 244 × 152 cm (8 × 5 ft) the rug can go under a coffee table in a lounge measuring roughly 3 × 2.1 m, or across the bottom of a queen bed, leaving about 45 cm of the lily border visible on each side.
