About this rug

A sun-washed finish gives this small Kazak its soft, muted colouring. On a brick-red field, three motifs stack down the centre line: a sage-green cross between two spiky ivory lozenges, with four round rosettes and hooked corner shapes filling the space around them. The wide sand-coloured border repeats red and sage flower-heads, edged by thin green stripes.

Knotters in Afghanistan worked its hand-spun wool at about 100 knots to the square inch, and the finished rug, 138 × 105 cm, fits beside a bed, inside a front door or under a small side table. It is grouped with our fine chobi rugs.
