201cm x 150cm Hand Woven Color Afghan Akche

About this rug

Eight large guls, two across and four down, dominate this akche. Each is quartered in saffron orange and raspberry red, with a white stepped cross and a red X at its centre, and small dark-blue stars stand in the gaps on the mid-blue field. The border is a close lattice of stepped saffron diamonds with white centres on raspberry red, a bright frame that matches the guls.

This 201 × 150 cm rug was made in Afghanistan, with about 8 mm of natural wool pile, and works under a coffee table between two sofas or in a room of roughly 2.6 × 2.1 m. Our Afghan akche collection has more large-gul designs.
