About this rug

There is no centre medallion and no formal border on this kilim. Instead, small stepped diamonds in diagonal rows cover the whole rust-red ground, and the colour changes from one diamond to the next: teal, pink, ivory, yellow, lilac, orange, sage and navy, each with a contrasting heart. The effect is like a patchwork of tiles, and ivory fringes finish both ends.

Each little diamond was woven into this flatweave by hand in Afghanistan, using 100% natural wool. At 202 × 77 cm, this runner from our kilim and flatweave range suits a passage of 97 to 117 cm, a bedside or a kitchen.
