About this rug

Mint and aqua green cover most of this wide runner, crossed by an all-over lattice of small diamonds framed in rust red and slate, each with an ivory cross at its centre. Two yellow lines mark out the middle panel, where a column of diamonds is built from small triangles in plum, ivory, teal, mustard and slate blue. Slanted blocks of orange, blue, yellow and rust form a band at each end, finished with grey fringes.

This mint-green flatweave was made by hand in Afghanistan, entirely in natural wool. It is 235 cm long and a generous 102 cm wide, a width that suits a broad passage of about 1.25 to 1.4 m, a landing, or the floor along a kitchen island; it is one of our hand-woven kilims.
