About this rug

Each small gul on this runner carries a pair of ivory zigzag marks, like tiny lightning strokes, on its dark centre. They are arranged in pairs down the red field, with larger four-armed dark stars between them on the centre line. Narrow stripes of dots separate the field from a broad lattice border of small dark diamonds, and the short end has a white fringe.

Its 76 cm width suits a hallway around 96 to 116 cm, and the 2.84 m length covers much of a long entrance passage; the pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan in natural wool, is close to 8 mm deep. More hand-knotted akche runners and rugs are in the range.
