About this rug

The border of this Akche Bokhara is unusually wide: bands of tiny diamonds and hooks in burgundy and black cover more of the surface than the field does. The narrow red field in the middle holds five columns of small oval guls with cross-shaped motifs between them, and the clear red centre against the dark surround gives the rug a strong outline.
