About this rug

Large scrolling vines in slate blue and navy curl around palmettes and small vase shapes as they sweep across the ivory field of this thick-pile Kashan rug, hand-knotted in Iran from natural wool. In the middle sits a many-pointed starburst in grey-taupe with a small blue roundel at its core. The corners are only lightly marked by stepped taupe pieces, so the ivory runs almost to the border, which is grey-taupe with ivory and navy palmettes between navy and ivory guard stripes. At 345 × 255 cm it covers the seating area of a lounge about 4 × 3.15 m in size, and under a dining table it leaves room for chairs around a top of up to 2 × 1.15 m.
