About this rug

Crimson and near-black are almost the only colours in this akche, which gives it a strong graphic look. Eight big octagonal guls, two by four, are drawn in black and quartered by a cross; their centres are packed with small ring-dots and each quarter holds a three-leafed sprig. Branching stick motifs run down the middle, and the main border is a chequered lattice of crimson diamonds edged by a band of curled leaves.

With white fringes at the ends and a natural wool pile about 8 mm high, this Afghan-made rug sits well under a coffee table or at the end of a queen bed. Find more in our akche woollen rug collection.
