About this rug

The palette here is muted: a deep navy field, olive-green border bands and dusty rose, with peach and apricot for the pattern. Forty-five small peach guls stand in nine rows, five abreast, with apricot star crosses filling the spaces between them. In the olive bands a lattice frames little mauve cross medallions, while red stripes of navy and gold rosettes separate the bands.

Laid crosswise under a king-size bed, the 253 × 166 cm rug leaves about 35 cm showing on each side; it would equally cover a study of roughly 3.1 × 2.3 m. Hand-tied knots of wool make up its Afghan pile, and it belongs to our akche collection.
